Each scarf is created from two different bolts of antique Japanese silk--one for the body and one for the tab ends--that were originally designed for the creation of kimono or haori. Scarves with multiple patterns in the body are created from the 'sample bolts' that manufacturers used to demonstrate their patterns and colors. The fabric is doubled so that there is no 'front' or 'back' side, and they are made without any visible seams.
